For the remaining lessons provide children with "the standard colors," which are red, yellow, blue (primary colors), orange, green, violet (secondary colors), brown, and black.

Instructors show children the lesson image and relate:

  • The lesson image represents a rug in three parts.
  • The middle part is called the center.
  • The end parts are called the borders.
  • The very outside edge is called the margin.

Instructors demonstrate to children how to create a rug:

  • Instructors place a margin around the tablet as shown in Lesson 30.
  • Instructors divide the rug into three parts and color as shown in the lesson image.

  3. Yellow and Violet. Place a wash of yellow over the whole, and a wash of violet over the center. Make the margin violet.
  4. Blue and Orange. Place a wash of blue over the whole, and a wash of orange over the center. Make the margin blue.
  5. Blue and Orange. Place a wash of orange over the whole, and a wash of blue over the center. Make the margin blue.
  6. Red and Green. Place a wash of red over the whole, and a wash of green over the center. Make the margin red.
